The digital economy is one of Côte d’Ivoire’s fastest-growing sectors, supported by significant investment in fiber networks, competitive mobile operators and strong urban digital adoption. Abidjan has emerged as a leading digital innovation center in francophone Africa, hosting fintech startups, e-commerce platforms, SaaS developers, digital-content creators and IT outsourcing companies. Public administration is undergoing substantial digital reform, with increasing use of electronic platforms for tax, customs, education, health and identity management.

The ICT sector contributes an estimated 3 to 5% of GDP and generates over 600 billion CFA francs in telecom revenue annually. With more than 16 million Internet users and mobile penetration exceeding 140%, Côte d’Ivoire has one of the highest connectivity rates in the region. Mobile-money services process more than 20 trillion CFA francs per year, providing essential financial services to millions of citizens and pushing financial inclusion above 60%. The digital ecosystem supports thousands of jobs and plays a catalytic role in modernizing sectors such as retail, agriculture, transportation and banking.
Outlook
Côte d’Ivoire aims to establish itself as a major digital-services hub. The deployment of nationwide fiber connectivity, accelerated rollout of 5G networks and creation of secure national data centers will significantly improve digital performance. Opportunities for BPO, call centers and IT outsourcing are growing, particularly for French-speaking markets in Africa and Europe. Demand for digital learning platforms, telemedicine solutions and connected agriculture services is rising rapidly. Government initiatives to create technology parks and strengthen the knowledge economy will further attract start-ups and global digital companies.
